Lesbian Elders Oral Herstory Project

The Lesbian Elders Oral Herstory Project is a project of the Lesbian Herstory Archives supported by a two-year Mellon-funded Community Archives grant.

The project is guided by Julia Rosenzweig and Minda Matz. Julia has been an LHA volunteer since 2019 and is a recent MSLIS graduate with a concentration in archival studies from Pratt Institute School of Information. Minda has been an LHA volunteer since 2015 and has both an MLS and a Certificate in Archives and Preservation of Cultural Materials from Queens College, and an MA in History from Hunter College. Frances Waters joined the team as a Project Consultant in the summer of 2021. This is France’s first experience at LHA; they have an MA in Oral History from Columbia University. Sasha T. Goldberg is an oral historian, author, and community organizer who holds a PhD in Gender Studies from Indiana University and a Masters degree in Judaism from the Graduate Theological Union. Dr. Goldberg began volunteering with LHA in 2021. We are grateful for the contributions of transcription volunteers Emma Banks and Rachel Mahre, who joined the team in 2023.

The Lesbian Elders Oral Herstory Project is supported by the entire Mellon Grant team comprised of: Alexis Clements, Amy Beth, Deborah Edel, Désirée Yael Vester, Elvis Bakaitis, Flavia Rando, Nicole Martin, and Shawn(ta) Smith-Cruz.
